When Donna Crookham was in charge this place ran pretty smoothly and they had some real professionals there. I received very good services her from 2004-2009. Had a hiccup in good services in 2010 but returned in 2011 or 2012 where I saw an excellent Christian counselor. I am a trained counselor myself so I know about the rules and ethics. I left when my Christian counselor transferred. In early 2017 I decided to give there services a shot again and was horridly told I could not come back. I believe this is because in 2015 I had filed a licensing complaint against a counselor who does not even work there anymore. I responded to cruelty with rudeness. Never threatened, at all, verbally or physically. But I even apologized. Because I brought up "thoughts of a lawsuit" they lawyered up contacting Paul Zingg and drafted a letter denying me services and threatening me with arrest should I step foot on any of there premises. Again, not for anything I DID. I even had friend Steven J. Siegel who had previously been on the board go to the meeting in my support. I can't even access two peer services available to ALL mentally ill Ottumwans: The Promise Center and a support group because SIMHC operates the services. This would be humorous if it wasn't so cruel and painful. I have forgiven 100% the counselor I filed the complaint against and would recommend him. The powers that be at this agency in 2017 have hurt me much more than the counselor and previous Supervisor EVER did. Do not go here, go anywhere else. The people are not just unethical, they have complete disregard for one individual's human life.
