This schools housing department is so nice. They will even replace your mattress over break with one that isn't even pee stained, and throw your sheets on the floor while they are doing it.
The campus itself is beautiful, and the professors are great and the people at the One Stop building are very helpful. But Financial Aid is a pain to deal with and when you're enrolled in just one class at a time, and you don't pass, they take away your FASFA and they don't tell you until you apply for a couple classes, then all of a sudden they tell you that you can't. The whole system they have there is outdated and ridiculous. The only thing I enjoyed about the campus was at the St. John Auditorium where there were performances put on by guests coming in, the choir and jazz band performances, and ESPECIALLY the theatre performances. This is a good college to go to if you want cheap education, and if you have a lot of patience.
This is a terrible college. I would never recommend it to anybody. I attempted to go back to school recently and I was on a SAP appeal so when I started having issues with a class I went to the acedemic advisor at the centerville campus to ask her what I could do. She told me to drop the class and I asked her specifically "if I drop this class how will affect my appeal?" Her response was that it would be fine. Turns out that it wasn't and that I lost my appeal and so now I have to try to get it back if I want to go to another college. But, based on personal experience, indian hills will make sure that getting my transcripts is nightmare so that I can't transfer my credits or anything to a new school. I also took a 7 week certification program through the ottumwa campus and when it came time for me take my final exam I failed it because the person who was watching me take it (not my instructor) wasn't actually watching me do most of the required steps so instead of saying "I wasn't paying attention" she just said I didn't do it. This is a terrible place that claims to be an educational environment and I wouldnt waste your time, energy or financial aid on this place. You could succeed and go a lot farther at another school.
Every teacher there is amazing. I haven't got to a better college. They helped me get my GED. They care about all of there students. I would recommend it to anyone.
I graduated this past May. My first year I had no problems. My second year was absolutely awful. One of the ladies in the as tech building is more than rude. Also one of the academic advisors canceled my financial aid for the term and told me I was ready to graduate but I was 2 credits short. Then with information you'll get.a different answer from each representative you talk to and the answers conflict. I will say that most of the instructors are absolutely wonderful and setting up your classes is a breeze. I just wish the faculty that didn't teach were more trained and knew what they were doing.
